About Beakys
Beaky’s is a small, home-run bakery born from a lifelong love of cooking and baking. Growing up, the kitchen was always filled with the laughter of my grandparents, Nikki and Chris. They shared their love of food with me and sparked something that never really left. Things didn’t always turn out the prettiest, but they always tasted good - And that was what mattered most to us.
Those early moments in the kitchen, full of warmth and encouragement are what shaped the heart of Beaky’s Bakery today. Every recipe, every bake, and every new idea comes from that same place of joy and creativity.
This little bakery is named in honour of my grandparents in following your heart (and your nose!) - And mine led me right here. Naming the bakery after them felt like the most natural way to carry their love, support, and spirit into everything I create.
Beaky’s is still growing, and I’m always learning, experimenting, and improving with every bake. That’s part of the journey - And part of what makes it so special. Every cake, brownie, and treat is made with care, passion, and a genuine love for sharing good food with others.
Meet the Baker
Hi, I’m Sophie - The baker behind Beaky’s Bakery!
My journey here hasn’t been a straight line. I originally started out in catering, but over time I found myself moving between different roles before eventually spending around eight years working in IT. While it was a completely different world, baking never really left me - It was always there in the background, waiting for the right time.
Around four years ago, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Hyperalgesia, which has brought its own challenges and forced me to rethink how I worked and what I wanted from life. It wasn’t an easy time and still isn't always, but it has helped me realise how important it was to do something I truly loved.
In 2025, I finally took that leap and turned that passion into something real - Beaky’s Bakery!
I’ve built this bakery in a way that works with me, allowing me to keep doing what I love while adapting to the challenges that come with my condition. It doesn’t define me - But it has shaped my journey, and made every bake feel that little bit more meaningful.
Now, you’ll find me at Wirksworth Farmers Market on the first Saturday of every month, sharing my bakes with the community and growing Beaky’s Bakery step by step. Hopefully soon, I'll be able to expand and visit more in the future.
